Let's Take Back our Land!

I want to share with you some very big Boyer family news.

Four of my sons and I are putting together a 1-day conference to start appearing around the country in 2011. It’s called Take Back the Land . The purpose of the conference is to challenge and equip homeschooled youth and their families to do their part in the culture war for America. As the enemy is coming in like a flood to attack our families, churches, government, courts and other civic institutions, God is raising up a standard against him. Thousands of homeschool families have jettisoned the defeatist mindset that is so prevalent among Christians today and they are fighting back with every intention of winning.

America was founded by Christians on Biblical principles. That is the reason for her prosperity, unrivalled in all of history. But now, like the Israelites emerging from the wilderness, we are looking across the Jordan to a land that was home to our ancestors but is now controlled by our spiritual enemy. He has built strongholds in regions that were once dominated by the truth of Scripture. Those strongholds can be and must be taken back for Jesus Christ. He is still Lord.

The only hope our grandchildren have of growing up in a land of freedom and justice lies with the Christian families of today, and especially with the young people now preparing to be launched from those families onto the spiritual battlefields of our day. The Take Back the Land conference will bring those young people, their parents and siblings together with other dedicated families for a day of inspiration, training, and networking with others of shared convictions. Together we can turn America back to her godly roots and rebuild the old foundations (Is. 58:12).

To take this message around America, we will need your help. Email us (boyers@thelearningparent.com) if you are interested in hosting a conference or serving as a volunteer in this ministry. Together, we can fight and triumph in the war for America’s soul. If God is for us, who can be against us?

God bless your family.

I greatly appreciate and share your desire for godliness in America, but I'm not sure that we're talking about the same thing when we say that. I don't think that God's purpose today is to make America or any other geographical region on the planet "Christian"--as there is no "chosen nation" or "holy land" at the present time--but to have as many individuals as possible, regardless of their nationality, hear and believe the gospel and be transformed by the Spirit into faithful and reproducing followers of Christ. That's the godliness in America and everywhere that I desire. As I've followed your ministry in recent years--and by the way, I GREATLY respect and appreciate you, your example, and your ministry!--it seems to me that you have placed too much emphasis on America, specifically, and on making America "Christian again" at the macro level through political activism. I'm not trying to pick a fight but am just wanting to interact on this point. Perhaps this is something that others would like to comment on, too.

While I can't speak personally for the Boyers, I think their reason for focusing so much on America is pretty simple. It's the country they live in. It's the country their grandchildren will most likely grow up in. It's the country that was founded on Biblical principals. It's the country that has fallen away from those principals and continues to do so at an alarming rate of speed. A lot of homeschoolers have a business, an outreach, or a platform. This just happens to be where the Boyer family has found their niche. Homeschoolers are more involved in politics than others, it seems. Two of my teen sons spent part of their day yesterday making calls for someone running for US Congress. Would they have had the opportunity or the desire to do that in public school? For whatever reasons, we are more concerned and informed than most of the "mainstream" citizens. We should thank the Boyers for their part in what they are doing. They can't change the world. They can't even change America by themselves. We all must work together beginning with our own families, towns, and states. Only then will we be able to take back America. Thank you, Rick, Marilyn, and your entire family for what you are doing.

I appreciate Tracy's comment, and since she's been listening to the Boyers and reading their books for some time she knows that the Boyers are highly involved in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One look at the materials they have written and produced, or one session of listening to the speak at conferences across the nation will confirm that. I make this observation for others who may read her comment and not be as familiar with their ministry.

I agree with Lacey White - unless Christians work together, America as we know it (or rather, as we knew it growing up) will disappear. Our freedoms, including the freedom to teach our children what we believe about God and to spread the Gospel, are being eroded daily, by "representatives" who do not represent us, and by activist courts who rule based on their own agenda rather than on the laws of our land.

How did we get to this point? As I heard someone say recently, "You can't blame the world for being worldly." Christians abandoned the political arena (and the media and arts, for that matter), and the world filled the vacuum.

Lord willing, my children are going to grow up in this land. I desire that they have the freedoms our founding fathers built into our nation's framework. Just like our brave armed forces, who are right now working to preserve those freedoms on the battle front, we need to be ready to do our part in the political arena. W

Many blessings to you, Boyer clan! Thank you for pressing on and encouraging us to get engaged!

Marilyn is wonderful. To be clear, I am not speaking for Marilyn, but I think she realizes that the best way to reach the world for Christ is to get our own house in order first--America's.

Similarly,God calls us to make sure we are properly caring for our personal affairs (home, children) before presuming to lead others in theirs.

If we lose the rights in America to Biblically speak about God, to train up our children in the Lord, and practice our faith here, how can we then go to all the world and preach?

The Lord told the Jewish people to be a light to the nations. We seek to be the same in this age, as true heirs of the promises of Abraham.
