Laura

Laura has a delightful spirit about her. She loves interacting with people and has the gift of making others feel comfortable and welcome in new situations. She stays very busy babysitting for many families and enjoys preparing fun things for the kids to do while she watches them.
Laura travels with us almost every time we speak at a home schooling conventions and has made friends all over the country. She is indispensable to our ministry. While she runs our tables efficiently at conventions we are free to answer questions and speak to moms and dads, although Laura talks to plenty of moms and dads as she works at our booth also.
At church, Laura runs the camera to make videos of the services on Sundays. She enjoys working in the tech booth with her brother Tim and others. She is always looking for opportunities to serve others. We are blessed to have her in our family.

Favorite Color: pink

Something God is teaching you: To focus on serving the Lord by serving others more, and to constantly be putting others above myself. DEFINITELY a work in progress!

Favorite Food: fresh fruit salad

Favorite childhood memory: Oh dear, there are so many! Trips to Cape Cod every summer to visit relatives are definitely some of my favorite memories....playing with cousins, going to the beach, walks to the candy store with Gramp, going out in the row boat, lobstering, etc.
Playing 'town' in the basement with my sisters was also lots of fun: we'd set up a 'grocery store', a 'bank', a 'post office', a clothing store, etc. then get out our dolls, get all dressed up, and play.:)
Also, winter was one of my favorite times, when it would snow...especially the year Grace and I discovered the excitement of sledding off of the shed roof, across the chicken house, and dropping about 6 feet to the ground! We always had some very creative ways to have fun! :)

1 reason you are glad you were homeschooled: One of the reasons I'm glad I was homeschooled is because I got to spend so much time with my family, learning in a Christian environment where my parents values and standards were held up, and not torn down. I also am very thankful that I didn't spend every day in a classroom with children all my own age. I was taught to take care of younger children, as well as to carry on a conversation with an elderly person, and to enjoy them both!

A favorite person in History/why: Michael Sattler, an Anabaptist during the Reformation. Totally focused on God; he and his wife were both brutally killed because they refused to renounce their beliefs. He had an amazing testimony, and even as he was being burned at the stake, he was encouraging his fellow believers in the work of the Lord.

These are some of my favorite products from the Learning Parent, and why I like them!

Your Story Hour CDs: These CD's make learning history so interesting, and tell stories that most people in America today have never heard! I loved listening to them as a child; now I bring them with me when I babysit, and give them as gifts. Children of all ages love them!
On My Own Biographies Another fun way to teach history! These books are another of my favorites to bring along when I babysit. The children beg me to bring them back again and again! The moms like them too, as the kids are learning so much history and loving it! They have very colorful illustrations, and hold their attention so well! (also available.... Set 3 )
Thy Word Scripture Memory sets: These sets are such a valuable tool for teaching your children Scripture. I had several when I was little, and would go around the house singing whole chapters of the Bible when I was 4 and 5 years old! I highly recommend them!
Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories Set: I absolutely love these books! They hold a child's attention easily, with the bright, realistic illustrations, and captivating stories that each teach a character lesson! This is definitely one of my favorite children's books series ever!

Dear Laura,
I enjoyed reading about you! You are an amazing young woman who lets the Light of Christ shine through you and I didn't have to read about you to know this...I've witnessed this in person!
Love,
Judy Brodie
